Goodbye gym, hello great outdoors
And while you won’t find the same equipment in the great outdoors as at the local gym, most parks have all you need to get the job done (rocks, park benches, stretches of green grass). If you’re fortunate enough to have access to any of the new outdoor gyms popping up across the country, you’ll have plenty there to keep you busy as well. To help you get the most from the outdoors, here are a few exercises to add to your repertoire. Performed consecutively, the exercises combine to make a great workout. And if you’re a runner, cyclist or swimmer, consider stopping off at the park once or twice a week to give the workout a try. The combination of strength, power and cardio has the potential to boost your performance. Start with a five-minute brisk walk or easy jog to warm up before moving from exercise to exercise, doing as many repetitions as you can in 30 seconds. Once you’ve done all six, take a two-minute break and repeat. Perform the whole circuit four times for a 20-minute workout guaranteed to get your heart pumping and muscles quivering. Read full article
